OUR PROGRAMS
We have established ourselves as an active, inclusive, and participatory organization responding to community needs aligned to the National plans and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to our strategic plan 2023-2027 we have developed five programs as explained hereunder; the strategic plan available in reports and policies page has more details.
Resource Governance
Accountability Tanzania focuses on promoting transparent and accountable management of resources. This program involves capacity-building activities, community engagement, and advocacy efforts to ensure sustainable resource utilization and equitable distribution of benefits. SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), Tanzania, Vision 2025 and the Five-Year Development Plans (2023-2027).
Climate Action
AcT recognizing the urgent need to address climate change, the program aims to raise awareness, develop climate resilience strategies, and advocate for climate-friendly policies and practices in Tanzania. AcT works closely with communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to mitigate the impacts of climate change and promote sustainable adaptation measures as SDG 13 (Climate Action) and the Paris Agreement aim at.
Marine Protection
This program focuses on the conservation and sustainable management of marine ecosystems and resources. Accountability Tanzania supports initiatives aimed at protecting marine biodiversity, preventing illegal fishing practices, and promoting responsible fisheries management. SDG 14 (Life Below Water)
Organic agriculture/chemical and waste
Accountability Tanzania addresses the environmental and health risks associated with improper management of chemicals and waste. Through awareness campaigns and advocacy, the organization seeks to promote sound chemical and waste management practices and encourage the adoption of environmentally friendly alternatives. Stockholm Convention and Basel Convention and policies and regulations overseen by Environmental Management Council (NEMC)
Livelihood and Trade
This program aims to enhance livelihood opportunities for communities while promoting sustainable trade practices as well as sustainable agriculture. Accountability Tanzania works towards empowering local producers, promoting fair trade, and advocating for policies that prioritize social and environmental sustainability. SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 2(ending hunger, improving food security and nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture.
